Braymer United Methodist Church Building Centennial

The Braymer United Methodist Church is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the building of the present church.

A Centennial building celebration will be held Sunday, Sept. 20. Sunday School at 10 a.m., worship at 11 a.m. with a carry-in dinner at noon. At 2 p.m. will be a celebration service with the cornerstone opening.

The year 1915 was a memorable year for Braymer Methodists. At the beginning of the year at team began an active campaign to raise $20,000 to build a new church. This seemed to be a hopeless task, but before the time appointed to close the canvas, March 1, the entire amount was pledged and plans were laid for the building.

Ground was broken March 23, the corner stone laid April 19, and the completed building dedicated September 19, 1915.

There are 24 rooms in the building, aside from closets, pantry, halls, etc.–all of which were used for classrooms. The building can seat 850 people. The dining room is sufficiently large to seat 500 people. A beautiful pipe organ, costing $2,000, was one of the attractive features of the church. At its dedicatory services the property was debt free.

Come join us in celebrating 100 years of service to the Lord from the big brick church on the corner of 3rd St. and Woods Ave.
