County contacts Kingston regarding 911 tower

The Kingston City Council met for their monthly meeting on Sept. 3. Those present on the council were Aldermen Carl Kresse, Brad Campbell and Jerry Prothero. Also in attendance were Mayor Stone, Clerk Debbie Fleming and sewer/water employee, David Bethel. Alderman Ron Fleming was absent.

The board began by adopting the current leak adjustment policy for the city.

The council reviewed and approved the bills.

Debbie Fleming said the Baptist church wanted to put gravel in front of the church in their parking lot and wanted to make sure it was all right with the council.

Bethel said that FEMA had decided that Caldwell County was a disaster area. He said FEMA had lost the previous paperwork that he had turned in and he had to resubmit it.

Bethel said he was contacted by the county regarding 911. They don’t know if they are going to be able to put a tower up behind the sheriff’s office or keep the microwave drum. If they keep the drum, they are required to have a backup generator on the site. They wanted to know if the city had an issue with it being there. Campbell said he preferred the generator be located inside the fence. The county’s 911 preferred to put their own tower up at the sheriff’s office, but if they did, they would have to close the alley and move the sewer main which would not be very cost effective.

Campbell asked if Caldwell 3 was still planning on putting in a water line at the end of town. Bethel said that was still in the works and there were two engineers currently working on the design.

Campbell asked Bethel about setting up a meeting with the insurance company to review the policy about possibly raising the deductible on some items.

Bethel commented that things were working well at the plant.
