Green Hills Telephone Corporation Celebrates 65th Annual Meeting

Over 240 people arrived at the Breckenridge School on Friday, March 31, 2017, for the 65th Annual Meeting of the Telephone Cooperative. Green Hills Telephone began providing telephone service in and around Breckenridge in the early 50’s; since then it has grown to offer Local & Long Distance Telephone service, High Speed Internet, Skitter TV, Security Systems, and Business Solutions to its customers.

The celebration began at 5:00 p.m. with registration and a meal served by Bill Englert. The Cooperative business meeting began at 7:00 p.m. with an overview of the company’s financial health and plans for the coming year. An election was held for three positions to the Cooperative’s Board of Directors. Jeff Riley was newly elected to represent District 1, Steve Tarr re-elected for District 4 and Phil Griffith for At-Large 2. They will each serve a 3-year term.

Olivia Claire Shipp of Dawn was announced as the 2017 Washington Youth Tour winner. She will travel in June on an all expense paid trip to Washington, DC.

$100 – George and Barbara Finley of Hardin (Stet Exchange)

$100 – David Israel of Hale (Avalon Exchange)

$100 – Sammy Falke of Carrollton (Stet Exchange)

$100 – Timothy & Donna Venneman of Breckenridge

$50 Cash / Survey Prize – Bennett White of Breckenridge

$50 Teen Gift – Matney Waters

Boy’s Bike Grand Prize – Keith Farmer

Girl’s Prizes Bike Grand Prize – Kathryn Farmer

Several other adult and kids’ prizes were drawn throughout the evening.

We would like to say thank you to the Breckenridge School administration, faculty, students, and volunteers for their efforts during our meeting. A special thank you goes out to coordinator Brenda Toot for all of her time and effort.
