Hamilton Board of Aldermen discuss complaints of city parking and weeds in ditches

The Hamilton City Council met Wednesday, Sept. 9, for the monthly board of aldermen meeting. Those present were Aldermen Jim Sweiven, Travis Trosper, Fred Moss and Alderwoman Sherria Kavanaugh. Also present were Mayor Winford Gilliam, City Administrator, Dale Wallace and City Attorney Robert Cowherd and City Clerk Debra Davis.

Bud Motsinger attended the meeting to get the approval to purchase a couple of properties where the taxes had not been paid since 2008. He will also have to pay county taxes on the properties. The properties had been up for bid four times already and no one was interested in purchasing them. He was asking that the city abate a portion of the taxes and penalties for the last five years, as the lots need a great portion of work done to clean them up. The board approved Motsinger’s request.
