Kidder’s Code Enforcement officer resigns

At the June board of aldermen meeting of the City of Kidder, Clerk Richard Evans presented to the board a letter from Christy Eden-Browder stating that she was resigning due to personal reasons. Clerk Evans said the city needed to get someone quickly to take the job of code enforcement, as there are problems and complaints that need to be handled. Evans said he would be putting a notice in the paper for the position. Alderman McEwen volunteered to handle the nuisance calls until help could be found.

Mayor Bauer responded to the board about a discussion held during the May meeting at which he was unable to attend. The subject was about a mobile home and disabled truck on the mayor’s property. He stated he was aware that things needed to be done, but because of his current medical condition, they would have to wait. Addressing Alderman McEwen directly, the mayor asked if that would be acceptable. McEwen replied that he had a commitment from Ray two months ago to have the truck and tires removed and nothing has been done. The mayor asked McEwen why he was getting a commitment to move property that did not belong to him. McEwen said that the issue had been avoided for three months now and something needed to be done. He said it was his job to file complaints when ordinances were not being followed. The mayor said this was the first time he knew that McEwen had a problem with it and as soon he is able to move it, it will be gone.
