Kidder designates truck parking and drafts mobile home ordinance

Board of Aldermen of the City of Kidder met Feb. 11 for their monthly meeting. Present were Dave McEwen, Ray Garton and Christy Bratcher, along with Mayor Bauer and Code Enforcement Officer, Christy Eden Browder. Alderman Steve Grooms was absent.

Under old business, the Kidder Board of Aldermen met on Jan. 16th with the purpose of finding a place in town to designate for truck parking. The consensus was that the best place for trucks to park would be on a road in town that was not currently in use and had enough of a solid foundation to support the weight that a truck would require. Mayor Bauer clarified the decision further by adding that there is no ordinance that trucks have to park there, but it is available for anyone wanting to use it.

The board discussed a water line easement on Todd Conger’s property that was growing up in trees and needed to be maintained by the city. Clerk Evans said that the trees should probably be removed because it is shallow where the line runs. Also, several loads of dirt need to be put around two manholes that are above ground level. Charlie Pugh suggested that they could avoid going on Conger’s property by creating a road around the lagoon, and explained how this could be done. The board agreed that this could be a satisfactory solution to the problem and Mayor Bauer said it would be good if city could arrange to take a look at the area and decide if this was feasible.

In reviewing the bills, McEwen asked why the city was paying Ameren Mo for electricity to an aerator at the lagoon when it was not functioning. Clerk Evans said that this was a minimum monthly charge to have the meter in place and explained that the aerator will be put back into use the end of March. Garton asked about the $500 fee the city pays to the Municipal League for a yearly membership. Christy Eden Browder said the city could have access to the league through other sources and explained that the league was there to advise the city on legal issues and other problems. Mayor Bauer said the city should use the service more often if they were paying for it and it could be helpful in the future.

Clerk Evans discussed the frustrations the city was having with DNR and trying to comply with all their regulations and requests.
