Neely Announces Leadership Run; Cites Capitol Culture as Motivation

In a letter to his caucus on Tuesday evening, Representative Jim Neely announced he would be seeking the post of Assistant Majority Floor Leader in the upcoming election. “With the recent media attention surrounding our work and time in Jefferson City I’ve found myself reflecting more and more about my last few years in the legislature,” Neely stated in his email. “We have members in our caucus working hard every day to help Missouri’s most vulnerable citizens. Yet time and time again our children, seniors, and hard-working families are getting a second-class chance behind the priorities of big money lobbyists and special interests groups.”
Neely is a physician from Cameron, Missouri who was elected to his first term in 2012. “I am not seeking a leadership position to further a political career, but rather to provide a voice for all of us who look forward to the ride home from the Capitol much more than the drive there,” Neely concluded.
