New York Liberty League honors
The Liberty League of New York announced its weekly honors for football, and Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) freshman fullback Wiley Martin of Polo earned a spot on the league's honor roll. The accolade comes after the rookie's performance in the Mariners' 24-17 road loss at Rochester this past Saturday.
Martin led all players in the game with 145 rushing yards on 33 attempts (4.4 YPC). It was the rookie's first 100+ yard rushing game of his career. He also found the end-zone in the fourth quarter to tie the score up at 17-17, his second TD in as many weeks. Martin’s brother, Gunner, a junior fullback for the Polo varsity football team is following in his brother’s footsteps.
Wiley is the son of David and Michelle Martin of Polo and the grandson of Bob Martin of Turney.
