People Services delivers bad news to Hamilton Aldermen

The Hamilton Board of Aldermen began their February meeting by electing officers to the Hamilton Civic Progress Corporation. Those present were Aldermen Jim Sweiven, Travis Trosper and Fred Moss and Alderwoman Sherria Kavanaugh, along with Mayor Winford Gilliam, acting City Administrator, Allen Gentry and City Attorney, Robert Cowherd. Elected to the board of the corporation are as follows; Mayor Gilliam, President; Travis Trosper, Vice-President; and Sherria Kavanaugh, Secretary. Gilliam will be responsible to verify and sign any annual paperwork that is required by USDA Rural Development.

Steve Guthrie, Regional Manager of People Services, attended the meeting in regard to the water/wastewater problems in Hamilton. He wanted the city to be aware of things his service had found that needed attention. One of the main issues was that the back wash flow control valve at the water plant was not seeding or holding correctly, causing water backup into the filters. This compromises the quality of the water and could lead to violations.
