Two accidents occurred last week, one fatal

A fatal crash occurred at 3:58 p.m., Thursday, 3/24, on Yankee Ridge Road, two miles south of Kingston, when a 2012 Volkswagon driven by 16 year old Alexander Wilson of Kansas City traveled off the west side of the roadway, struck a small tree, continued to travel off the roadway, struck a large tree, caught fire, and came to rest facing west on the west side of the road. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, 17 year old Walter Eckenrod of Kansas City, was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Liberty Hospital in serious condition.

Another accident happened on Tuesday, 3/22, at 3:35 p.m. on 116 at Route T, two miles west of Polo, when 42 year old John Finton of Lathrop driving a 2012 Harley Davidson Sportster slowed to avoid traffic and went off the north side of the roadway, returned to the roadway, lost control, overturned and skidded off the south side of the roadway coming to rest facing south. Finton was taken by Caldwell County EMS to Cameron Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
