Water and sewer rates discussed at Braymer Council meeting

Mayor K.J. Rogers called the meeting to order with all council members present. Employees present were Tanya Mallory and Brandon Kehl.

Minutes of the July meeting were discussed. Councilwoman Christine Owen informed the council that she did not think we should have commented on the property at A Hwy. and N Hwy. as a junk yard. She had gotten a complaint about that statement. So she asked for this to be changed in the minutes. A vote was taken with four ayes to change the minutes.

After adding the bill from Layne Christensen for the water plant, the council voted to pay the bills.

In old business, the council discussed the parking at the Outreach Center. It was decided to leave the parking as is, and if Pat Goll would like to come to the meeting in September and discuss further what she is needing that would be fine.

The council discussed raising the water and sewer rates. Last year at this time an ordinance was passed so that if needed the council could raise the rates no more than 5%, but at this time the council did not choose to raise the rates.

Under new business, the council discussed the Street Account Fund. Changing the account to a Money Market or a six month CD was discussed. At this time the account will be left in a regular checking account.
