Alvin Lynn McPheeters

Alvin Lynn McPheeters, age 79, a resident of North Kansas City, MO, passed away on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City.

Alvin was born the son of James Earl McPheeters and Lucille Mae (Richardson) Weicker on Dec. 31, 1935, in Cowgill. He was a 1953 graduate of Braymer High School and was a great athlete. Alvin served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne, with 17 jumps from 1958 until 1960. He worked as a welder for Builders Steel in North Kansas City for 40 years. Alvin was a member of the Cowgill Methodist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Roger Earl McPheeters (Nancy) of Braymer and one sister, Carol Jean Lawson of Grandview. He also leaves behind three nieces, Cindy Rogers, Mary Lou Dake and Karen Nieman; five nephews, Roger Lynn McPheeters, Steve McPheeters, Craig McPheeters, Kevin Lee and Damon Selle and their children, who he loved and who loved him and considered him a wonderful uncle. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marcia Lou Lee; one nephew, Sean Selle; and two brothers-in-law, Alan Lawson and Bob Lee.

Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 12, one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 12 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Burial will be held at Cowgill Cemetery in Cowgill. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowgill Cemetery, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
