Anthony (Tony) Dale McLaughlin

Anthony (Tony) Dale McLaughlin, age 79, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on Oct. 22, 2018, at his home. He lived in Kansas City since 1968, and previously lived in Hamilton.

Tony was born on Aug. 28, 1939, in Clarion, IA, to Lester Dale and Leola Elizabeth (Lord) McLaughlin. He was a 1958 graduate of the Penney High School in Hamilton. He worked for Trager Limestone Quarry in Hamilton. He started working at Hunt Midwest Enterprises in 1969 and retired 47 years later, going from heavy equipment operator to plant superintendent, manager of eastern operations and director of special projects.

He was a member of the Faubion United Methodist Church in Gladstone, a life-time member of the Missouri Limestone Association, and an avid fisherman and hard-core Chiefs fan. He and Sue spent the last 10 years wintering in Weslaco, TX, at RVE with their winter family.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rhonda Duffin; two brothers, Darrel Baker and Ronald McLaughlin; and a sister, Karel Hazzard.

He married Susan Crotty on May 22, 1971, in Kansas City. Susan survives of the home. Additional survivors include three daughters, Susan Lynn Dwire (Jon) of Cross Timbers, Karen Miller (Ronnie) of Hamilton, and Tracey Young of Saint Simons Island, GA; four granddaughters, Kari Smith, Stevie McLaughlin, Alexis Dunn, and Toni McLaughlin; four great grandsons, C.J. Dilly, Lane Dilly, Arthur Taylor Grissom IV, and Jayden Mortell; and two sisters, Doreen Hacker of Winston and Marlene Hemminger of Cameron.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Hamilton Federated Church in Hamilton. A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Faubion United Methodist Church, 7113 N. Troost, Gladstone, Mo., 64118. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northland Hospice or the Faubion United Methodist Church.
