Archie James "Jaybird" Rardon,

Archie James "Jaybird" Rardon, age 83, of Polo, MO, passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 10, 2022. Jaybird was born on Oct. 4, 1938, the son of Archie Frank and Bessie Marie (Arnold) Rardon in Lawson. He was a 1957 graduate of Polo High School. He married Linda Darlene Mellon in Aug. 1961, in Lawson, and to this union three children were born. Jaybird was a member of the Painters Union Local #9. He painted everything from bridges to water towers, and a Phillips 66 refinery. In addition to painting, Jaybird farmed most of his life. He was a member of the Arrow Slingers Archery Club in Caldwell County, putting on a shoot at the football field. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his buddies, and mushroom hunting. Jaybird enjoyed growing a vegetable garden and loved giving away his crop. He had an extensive collection of tomahawks and arrowheads. Jaybird had an odd and unusual sense of humor and was never afraid to voice his opinion. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

Jaybird was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jim Rardon, Shirley Kinnison, and Linda Yoakum; grandson, Dalton Rardon; and daughter-in-law, Jill Rardon. 

He is survived by his children, Sheila Rardon (Kent Carlson) of Polo, Shannon Fitzwater (Johnny) of Polo, and Shane Rardon of Polo; grandchildren, Morgan Smart (Scott) of Liberty, Robin Henderson (Michael) of Polo, Randy Cline (Alicia Gardner) of Polo, and Tristan Rardon of Polo; great-grandchildren, Carrie, Gabe, Will, and Sophia; siblings, A.D. "Rusty" Rardon of Polo and Jane True of Independence; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, at Polo Community Church in Polo (600 Main St. Polo, MO 64671). The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the evening prior at Stith Funeral Home in Polo. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Prairie Ridge Cemetery, west of Polo. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dalton Rardon Scholarship in care of the funeral home.
