Bernard Henry Silver

Bernard Henry Silver, age 86, of Hamilton, MO, passed away on Feb. 6, 2018, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Hamilton. Ben had previously lived in Cameron.

Bernard was born on May 15, 1931, in Loup City, NB, to Henry and Barbara (Ruschynialski) Silver. He honorably served his country in the Navy during the Korean War, serving from 1951-1954. He worked as a metal fabricator for Kenworth-Dart in Kansas City.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton, and was a very active and lifetime member of The Knights of Columbus.

Bernard married LaVonne Leibfried on Sept. 14, 1957, in Sherburn, MN. She preceded him in death in 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Helen, in 2004; and four brothers, Everest, Gerald, Father Lawrence, and Francis.

Survivors include his children, Giles (Kathy) Silver of Warrensburg; Angela (Robin) Ellis of Hamilton, Andrew Silver of San Diego, CA, Nicholas (Judy) Silver of Hamilton, Jason (Pam) Silver of Platte City, Nathan (Terri) Silver of Maysville, and Monica (Jerry) Reeds of Marceline; sister, Marie (Larry) Gilkeson of Blue Springs; three stepchildren, Tom and Donald Maenhoudt and Shirley Gueltzau; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton. A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Munchin Catholic Cemetery in Cameron. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton.
