Billie R. Griffin

Billie Revalee Griffin, age 89, of Cameron, MO, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at New Mark Care Center in Kansas City.

Billie was born the daughter of Jesse Grundy and Ola Mary (Tucker) Mallory on Oct. 15, 1925, in Hardin. She attended rural school in Ray and Caldwell counties. She was united in marriage to Melvin Eugene Griffin on Feb. 5, 1947.

Billie was a homemaker that thoroughly enjoyed cooking, painting, dancing and playing the piano. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was an avid volunteer.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin E. Griffin; a son, Melvin E. Griffin, II; her parents; four brothers, Jesse Tucker Mallory, Grundy Ellesworth Mallory, Howard F. Mallory, and Wallace Burton Mallory; seven sisters, Gertrude Padgett, Felicia Felber, Beatrice McBee, Viola McGinnis, Lilly Mae Still, and twin sisters, Genavene and Evalene Mallory.

Survivors include her four children, Marsha Griffin of Kansas City, Stephen K. Griffin (Jennifer) of Kansas City, Nancy Martin (Jim) of Weatherby, and Gloria Clement of Kansas City; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lester Lee Mallory of Chillicothe.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cameron. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Cameron or Crossroads Hospice. Online condolences may be left at www.polandthompson.com. Services are under the direction of Poland-Thompson Funeral Home in Cameron.
