Brenda G. Farmer

Brenda G. Farmer, age 66 of Cowgill, MO, passed away Friday morning, March 13, 2020, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer surrounded by family.

Brenda was born on October 2, 1953, in Braymer to parents Cecil and Lula Mae (White) McBee. She accepted Christ as a child at Black Oak Methodist Church of rural Braymer. Brenda grew up on a dairy farm south of Braymer, where she learned the value of hard work. She graduated from Braymer High School in 1971. Brenda married Dennis Farmer in 1972 at Black Oak Methodist Church. She attended Missouri Western State College and graduated with a B.S. degree in elementary education, then received a master’s in education from Baker University. Brenda taught kindergarten and Title I Reading at Polo Elementary School from 1991 until 2006. Brenda was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Polo.

Brenda always put family first, dropping everything to help her children and grandchildren when needed. She loved teaching and was great with children. She was an active woman who was deeply involved in working with children and continued to do so for the majority of her life. Brenda really enjoyed music. She played the piano and also sang at Black Oak Methodist Church, Polo United Methodist Church, and Cowgill Baptist Church, where she directed the children’s music programs. Brenda enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, animals and spending time with her grandkids. She really liked cats, although she was highly allergic to them. Brenda will be dearly missed.  

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Edwin McBee, and brother, Mark McBee.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Farmer, of Cowgill; two sons, Darren (Elaine) Famer of Cowgill and Denton (Bobbi) Farmer of Appleton City; daughter, Dana (Dustin) Sage of Springfield; eight grandkids, Keith, Katherine and Kerrianne Farmer, Weston and Kylee Farmer, Mikaila Field, and Macey and Molly Sage. Brenda is also survived by her mother, Lula Mae McBee of Braymer; two sisters, Joyce (Rev. Ronnie) Foley of Braymer and Karen (Chris) Krumrey of Chapin, SC; brother, Charles McBee of Braymer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at the Polo United Methodist Church in Polo. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Cowgill Cemetery, southeast of Cowgill. Memorial contributions are suggested to Black Oak Methodist Church or Cowgill Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo.
