Bryan W. Heinz

Bryan W. Heinz, age 96, of Plattsburg, MO, and formerly of Lathrop, passed away Feb. 6, 2018, at Liberty Hospital. He was born on Aug. 21, 1921, the son of Thomas and Irene (McComas) Heinz in Cameron. 

Bryan was a 1939 graduate of Lathrop High School. On June 21, 1944, he was united in marriage to Louise Lewis in Liberty. Bryan served in the US Army during World War II from Sept. 1942 until his honorable discharge in Dec. 1945. He worked as a meat cutter for Milgram Food stores in the Kansas City area. 

Bryan was a member of the Polo Baptist Church. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels into his 90s and volunteered at St. Luke’s Barry Road Campus for many years. Bryan loved to garden and share his crop with others. He also enjoyed woodworking. Bryan had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He returned to rural Lathrop in 2005. Bryan will be dearly missed by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Louise.

Survivors include his son, Dan (Marlene) Heinz; sister, Dorothy Allmon; two grandsons, Bryan (Jennifer) Heinz and Alan (Grace) Heinz; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Harry) Leyden, Anna Heinz and Mary Heinz; and eight great-grandchildren, Kelly, Mason, Ethan, Lillian, Madelyn, Harrison, Violet and Emogene.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Stith Family Funeral Home in Lathrop. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lathrop Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Caldwell County Nutrition Center or Christ Cupboard Food Pantry, both in Polo. Arrangements are under the direction of Stith Family Funeral Home in Lathrop. Online condolences may be left at www.stithfamilyfunerals.com.
