Calvin C. Fordyce

Calvin C. Fordyce, age 90, of Kidder, MO, passed away at his home on Friday, July 24, 2015. He was born on May 8, 1925, in Bethany, to Roy and Goldie (Nighthart) Fordyce.

On April 15, 1948, he married Carol LaVon Dale and they shared 67 years of marriage until his death.

He graduated from Bethany High School and then went in the US Army (Mounted Calvary) serving during WWII.

He moved to Gilman City in 1948 with his wife. They started farming and raising cattle. He later moved to Stewartsville and started working for the Clinton County Highway Department in Plattsburg. He later moved to Osborn and started working at the Quaker Oats Company in St. Joseph.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Benton, Ronald and Charles; parents, Roy and Goldie Fordyce; three sisters, Thelma Beals, Vera Hullinger and Lorea Walker; and one brother, Goldman Fordyce.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Fordyce, of the home; son, Carl Fordyce of Aurora, NE; three daughters, LaVeta Barnett (Dalvin) of Winston, Janet Banks (Dennis) of Cameron, and Teresa Fordyce (Danny Nalle) of the home; nine grandchildren, Coty Fordyce (Vicki) of the home, Cara Fordyce of the home, Hillary Banks of Cameron, Dalvin Barnett of Cameron, Carla Charlier (Keith) of Blanchard, IA, Colt Banks of Cameron, Kevin Banks of Cameron, Henry Nalle (Chrissy) of Pattonsburg and Bryan Nalle (Andrea) of Albany; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home in Cameron. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Keystone Willing Workers 4-H Club in Cameron, or Hamilton Achievers 4-H Club in Hamilton in his memory.
