CARLA MARIE DEMSKO
Carla Marie Demsko age 39, of Braymer, passed away Sat., Oct. 21, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.
Carla was born on July 1, 1984, in Richmond, the daughter of Clifford A. and Deborah “Debbie” Gene (Tarwater) Hurshman. She was united in marriage to John R. Demsko of Braymer on Dec. 19, 2008; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: her father, Clifford Hurshman of Henrietta; two sons, Michael Demsko and Johnathan Demsko, both of the home; three daughters: Valerie Demsko and Samantha Demsko, both of the home, and Alexis (P.J.) Engelbrecht of Lathrop; grandson, Petrus Engelbrecht; two brothers, Jimmy (Kara) Hurshman of Braymer and Daniel Hurshman of Topeka, KS; sister, Angel (Eben) Youtsey of Salem; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and her many friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Debbie Hurshman, her paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Rosella Hurshman, maternal grandparents, Bennie and Hazel Tarwater, and brother, Lennie Lee Hurshman.
Carla was reared and educated in Braymer. She was a well-known face at the Busy Bee Café in Braymer, where she worked for many years with her mother. Carla was a well-loved cook at the Braymer School and most recently worked in management at the Casey Store in Braymer. She accomplished all of this while being a loving wife and mother to her husband and their five children. Carla was always there to help out in the community in any way she could, it didn’t matter who it was, no questions asked, and she never needed any recognition. She was of the Christian faith. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and she loved celebrating with her friends and family.

Visitation with memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Braymer, with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., with services to follow at 11:00 A.M. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of arrangements.
