C.L. Mason

C.L. Mason, age 90, a resident of Cowgill, MO, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

C.L. was born the son of Walter and Elsie (McKnight) Mason on Dec. 10, 1926, in Ray County. He was united in marriage to Betty Ruth McPheeters on Dec. 13, 1950, in Chillicothe. She survives of the home.

C.L. worked as a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the Cowgill Methodist Church in Cowgill, where he served on the board. He was also a member of the Pioneer Seed Company, the Cowgill Cemetery Board, and the Georgeville Saddle Club.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ruth Mason, of the home; one daughter, Jo Ellen Buck (Rick) of Cowgill; two grandchildren, Christene Oswald and fiancé David Benjamin of Excelsior Springs and Angela Ham (Jerry) of Kingston; and three great-grandchildren, Mya Oswald, Kenny Oswald, and Matthew Ham.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Floyd Edwin Mason.

Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at noon. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the funeral home in Braymer on Saturday, July 29, one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until noon. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Friday, July 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Cowgill Cemetery in Cowgill. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowgill Methodist Church, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
