Donal D. Guffey

Donal D. Guffey, age 90, of Columbia, MO, died on Sept. 7, 2016, at his home in Columbia. Mr. Guffey was a former director, senior vice-president and general counsel of The Gas Service Company of Kansas City. He retired in 1982.

He was born in Kingston to John W. and Elsie M. Guffey. He graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, and the University of Missouri School of Law. He served as assistant Attorney General of Missouri from 1951-1960, and as a member of the Missouri Public Service Commission from 1963-1968.

He had engaged in the private practice of law in Kansas City. He was a member of the MU Law Society, the MU Legacy Society, and was a distinguished fellow in the MU Jefferson Club. He was a member of the Kingston Federated Church, the Missouri Bar, Beta Theta Pi and Phi Alpha Delta fraternities, and the American Legion. He served in the Navy during World War II and in 1947 received a commission in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Marion Guffey, of the home; two stepsons, James Michael McGee of Columbia and Christopher McGee of Rocheport.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Channing E. Guffey of Oklahoma City and James Roger Guffey of Kansas City.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at the Kingston Cemetery in Kingston, at 1:00 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton.
