Donald Gene Vanderpool

Donald Gene Vanderpool, age 85, of Hamilton, MO, formerly of Kingston, passed away on Dec. 20, 2017, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Hamilton.

Donald Gene was born on July 17, 1932, in Braymer, to Samuel and Bessie (Swope) Vanderpool. He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Don had worked construction and had retired as a mechanic at Webber Shoe Factory in Hamilton, which later became the Stride Rite Shoe Factory in Hamilton.

He was a member of the Hamilton American Legion Post #285.

Donald Gene married Helen (Nadine) Barber on August 24, 1959 in Kansas. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his parents; son, Donnie Lee Vanderpool; sister, Mary June Rowell; and stepson, R.D. Mayes.

Suvivors include his daughters, Gina Gail and Tanya; stepsons, Ronnie Mayes of Platte City, Roger (Debbie) Mayes of Kansas City, and Rodney (Shelly) Mayes of Kingston; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Kingston Cemetery in Kingston. Memorials may be made to the Kingston Cemetery. An online obituary and condolences may be accessed at www.bramfuneralservices.com.
