Dorothy J. “Dot” Neal

Dorothy J. “Dot” Neal, age 100, of Raymore, MO, formerly of Hamilton, passed away in Raymore at the Foxwood Springs Care Center on Jan. 9, 2017.

Dorothy was born on June 22, 1916, in Polo, to Frank and Mabel Clair (Newton) Moore. She had attended school at the Cowgill school system until the high school closed, and she then graduated from Polo High School.

Dot worked for and retired from the Stride Rite Shoe Factory in Hamilton. She and her husband lived on their farm in Daviess County until 1976, before moving to town in Hamilton.

She was a member of the Methodist Wesley Chapel in Daviess County, and later attended church at the Hamilton United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Hamilton American Legion Post #285 Women’s Auxiliary and a past member of the Pollyanna Quest Club.

On Feb. 3, 1945, she married Edgar A. “Mutt” Neal in Kansas. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents; grandson, Zacc Victory; and sister, Kathaleen Martin.

Survivors include her daughters, Charlotte Ann Thompson of Raymore and Kathaleen Amelia Plater of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous other cousins and family members.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at the Hamilton United Methodist Church in Hamilton. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may call the Bram Funeral Home after 9:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Hamilton. Memorials may be made in Dot’s memory to the Hamilton United Methodist Church.
