Dorothy Jean Buck

Dorothy Jean Buck, age 79, of Kansas City, Mo., entered eternal life May 24, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy entered this life March 15, 1937, the daughter of George “Jake” and Wilma Frost O’Dell in Liberty. On Dec. 10, 1954, she was united in marriage to Charles Buck in Chillicothe. Mrs. Buck was a 1954 graduate of Polo High School. She worked for Loehr’s Town and Country and Eckard’s Drug in Liberty for a number of years. Dorothy was a loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She was tough as nails and smart. She loved to quilt, garden and read. Dorothy also had a love of collecting ceramic turtles, in which she had quite a collection.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Wilma “Billie Jim” Francis.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Charles of the home; son, Tim Buck of Kansas City; daughters, Cheryl “Sissie” (Wayne) Noll of Dearborn, Shelley Buck of Liberty; and Kerry (Richie) Runions of Kearney; sister, Barbara (Joe) Kipp of Kingston; brother, David (Vickie) O’Dell of Winston. Additional survivors include five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be given to the Kingston Cemetery in Kingston, in memory of Dorothy Jean Buck. A visitation for Dorothy will be held Thursday, May 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Stith Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Polo. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Kingston Cemetery. An online guestbook may be accessed at stithfamilyfunerals.com.
