Earl (Lee) LeRoy Huss

Earl (Lee) LeRoy Huss passed away in Denver, CO, June 23, 2020, at the age of 86 at Rose Medical Center.

He was born May 10, 1934, in Clearfield, IA. Lee proudly served in the Navy on the "Queenfish" as a submarine sailor during the Korean War from 1954 thru 1957. He then attended Central Technical Institute to study electronics in Kansas City. This is where he met his wife of 52 years, Sarah (Sallie) Ridings. They were married Aug. 22, 1960. After attending school, he was hired by IBM and worked for them from 1959 until 1991. One of the highlights of his career was when he worked at the manned Space Craft Center in Houston, and was an instructor to astronauts and flight controllers for the IBM system for Skylab. While working for IBM, he and his family lived in Minot, ND, Sioux City, IA, Woodstock, NY, Riverside, CA, Huntsville, AL, Clear Lake City, TX, Lago Vista, TX , and Longmont, CO. In 1992, he and his wife moved to Hot Springs Village, AR to enjoy the many golf courses and to be located near family members who chose to move there to create their own village. Lee lived there until March of 2014, when he moved to live with his daughter in Colorado. His last year was spent at Abundant Blessings Care, an assisted living center.

Lee is predeceased by his parents, Faye Addie Huss and Ruth Randolph Huss; brother, Floyd Huss; sister, Verlena Huss Oliver; and his wife of 52 years, Sarah Ridings Huss.

He is survived by his daughter, Klaudia Spivey of Denver, CO; son, Kendall Henry (Nancy) of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Konya Doucette (David) of Ashburn, VA; and daughter, Kristen Vance (James) of Elkhart, IN. He has eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Due to COVID, the family is planning on having services next summer at the Highland Cemetery in Hamilton, MO. Donations in his memory can be sent to the "Razorback Base Maintenance Fund" c/o Mark Taylor, P.O. Box 816, Beebe, AR 72012-0816.
