Eugene William Bechtold

Our Beloved, Eugene William Bechtold was called home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at the age of 89. His goal was to make it to 90 so that he could get his picture in the paper. After being told that we still will put his picture in the paper, he was able to leave in peace at his home in Kidder.
He was born on Dec. 15, 1925, in Boonville, to Paul and Elizabeth Bechtold.
Eugene was a Grey Hound bus driver of 35 years and very proud of it. He served in the Korean War, volunteered at the Veterans Home, served in his community, and was a very devoted member of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and KAW Fire Department.
Eugene loved his girls, his wife, Mary Lee, his daughters, Julie and Marijean, his granddaughter, Megan, his caregivers, Jill Smiley, Cindee Cunningham, and Debra Ellington, and the girls at the truck stop, Linda, Cora, and Karen. And not to forget, the only other male, Damon, his grandson.
Survivors include his daughters, Julie McDonald and Marijean Bechtold, and his grandchildren, Megan and Damon.
Eugene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lee, his parents, and two sisters, Alreda and Martha Ann.
