Fannie “Viola” Gibson

Fannie “Viola” Gibson, age 93, a resident of Chillicothe, MO, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Morningside Center in Chillicothe.

Viola was born the daughter of Fred William and Minnie Rodella (Wilson) Cobb on Sept. 27, 1926, in Chula. She was united in marriage to Nelson Dale Gibson on Mar. 28, 1946, in Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1994. Viola was a member of the Soul’s Harbor Church of God in Chillicothe. She attended the Braymer Christian Church in Braymer. Viola enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. She loved singing and playing guitar. Viola was the OATS bus coordinator in Braymer for many years.

Survivors include three sons, Nelson Wayne Gibson, Sr. (Anne) of Anchorage, AK, Donald Gibson (Caren) of Braymer, and Gary Gibson of Braymer; one daughter, Marilyn Spears (Dennis) of Chillicothe; ten grandchildren; one step-grandchild; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nelson; two sons, Norman and Rick Gibson; four sisters, Helen Molloy, Gracie Keith, Patricia Gardner, and Louise Howe; and one brother, Freddie Cobb.

Graveside services will be held at Plainview Cemetery in Chula on Friday, April 3, at 10:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe on Thursday, April 2, from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Morningside Center, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society,  or the National Kidney Foundation, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
