Frederic Eugene Moss

Frederic Eugene Moss, age 80, of Hamilton, MO, passed away on April 29, 2020, at his home in Hamilton. He and his wife, Barbara, moved back to Hamilton in 1998 from Higginsville.

Fred was born on May 8, 1939, in Kingston, to Russell and Sarah (Matchett) Moss. He graduated from Penney High School in Hamilton in 1957, and then earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from CMSU in Warrensburg. He honorably served his country in the Air Force from 1961-1965. Fred worked as a teacher and then worked in city administration for the City of Higginsville, retiring after many years of service.

He was a member of the Hamilton Federated Church, the Northwest Missouri Steam and Gas Engine Association in Hamilton, serving as president for 11 years, a member and past commander for the Higginsville American Legion Post #223, a Grand Master and member of the Masonic Lodge, a state president of City Clerks and Finance Officers for the state of Missouri, and served as a west ward alderman for the City of Hamilton for a number of years.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Dixon and Evelyn Hess; brothers, Robert, Wendell and Charles Moss; and his granddaughter, Ashley Waddell.

On March 14, 1959, he married Barbara Pollard at the Prairie Ridge Church west of Polo. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include his son, Michael (Deborah) Moss of Batesville, AR; daughter, Shelley Waddell of Odessa; four grandchildren, Arielle (Jackson) Nast of Jonesboro, AR, Andrew and Riley Moss of Batesville, AR, and Erica Waddell of Odessa; sisters, Phyllis Monteleone of Holt, Carol Stockton of Neosho, and Nancy Franklin of Columbia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A private family service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020. A visitation/friends may call on Saturday, May 2, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northwest Missouri Steam and Gas Engine Assn.
