Frederick (Fred) Alva Upshaw

Frederick (Fred) Alva Upshaw, age 71, of Hamilton, MO, passed away at the VA Medical Center in Columbia on March 28, 2017. Fred lived in Hamilton the past 14 years and previously lived in Linneus and Kansas City, KS.

Fred was born on Nov. 19, 1945, in Bronson, KS, to Raymond Andrew and Vada Marie (Duggins) Upshaw. He attended school in Uniontown, KS. He worked as a self-employed truck driver.

Fred served his country honorably in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed bowling and bowled in leagues at the Hamilton Bowling Alley.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret Cordray and Carolyn Carr; and two stepbrothers.

Survivors include his brother, Bill (Margie) Upshaw of Hamilton; daughters, Velicia Upshaw of Brookfield and Heidi (Chad) Johnson of Minnesota; son, Raymond Frederick Upshaw of Dallas, TX; two stepsons, Lonnie Allnutt of Shelby and Kevin Allnutt of DeSoto, KS; one stepson; two stepdaughters; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorials are suggested to the Caldwell County Foundation Cancer Assistance Fund or the Veteran’s Home in Cameron.
