Fredrick (Fred) Wayne Owen

Frederick (Fred) Wayne Owen age 66, of Polo, passed away on Feb. 8, 2024.

Fred was born on May 21, 1957, in Kansas City, to Francis "Frank" Frederick and Frances (Lorraine) Gray Owen.  He grew up in Smithville with loving parents and they sold their farm for the Smithville Lake to be built and then moved to "Short Lane". His parents raised Duroc pigs and Simmi cattle.  His father passed when Fred was only 15 years old.  Fred graduated from the Smithville high school in 1976, and then attended the Excelsior Springs, Vo-Tech school.

Fred worked building houses and worked for farmers in the area including Bill Wood and Horst Schwab.  He had a successful fencing business and was self-employed with his survey stake business called Quality Wood Stakes.  He enjoyed being outside and working with his hands.  He also raised chickens for years.

Fred was a man of few words.  He often showed his love and compassion by doing things for those he cared about.  He was a wonderful husband, father and papa and for that we are eternally grateful.

Preceding Fred in death were his parents.

Fred married Denise Creason on Feb. 10, 1998, in Plattsburg.  She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include 2 sons-Edward (Erin) Creason of Polo; and Ryan Creason of Polo; and 2 grandchildren-Lilly Creason and Easton Creason.

Graveside Service & Interment:  2:00 p.m., Tues., Feb. 13, 2024, at the Prairie Ridge Cemetery in Polo.
