Gary Hunt Plummer

Gary Hunt Plummer, age 76, of Polo, MO, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond. Gary was born on Dec. 23, 1942, the son of Curtis and Marie (Hunt) Plummer in Kansas City. He was a 1960 graduate of Excelsior Springs High School.

On July 17, 1965, he was united in marriage to Ann Smoot at the Barbie Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs. Gary was a farmer and a union carpenter for most of his life. He enjoyed fishing and snagging with his friends every spring. Gary liked to do woodworking and he could build anything. He enjoyed the simple things in life. Gary will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

Mr. Plummer was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Plummer; mother, Marie and stepfather, Glenn Dunwoodie; sister, Sue Gillahan; brother, Larry Plummer; nephew, Russ Gillahan; and stepbrothers, Art and Glenn A. Dunwoodie.

Those left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life include his wife, Ann of the home; daughter, Beth Larkins of Polo; sons, Bruce Plummer and Brent (Renee) Plummer, both of Polo; grandchildren, Kole, Kayla, Karley and Kenzi, Marie and Marcus; and three stepbrothers, Paul Dunwoodie, Jim Dunwoodie and Richard Dunwoodie. Cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.  

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019, at Knoxville Community Church in Knoxville. There is no scheduled visitation. Burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo.
