Gary J. “Cub” Barron

Gary J. “Cub” Barron, of Braymer, MO, passed away on Friday Dec. 30, 2016.

Gary was born Sept. 16, 1936 in Braymer. At an early age, he took Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a member of the Braymer Baptist Church. He graduated from Braymer High School in 1954. He proudly served four years in the US Air Force. After he was discharged from the Air Force, he attended one year of college at UCM in Warrensburg. He went to work at General Motors Leeds in 1959 and retired from Delco Remy in 1992.

After retiring, he worked as custodian at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City for many years. He was Past Master of Swope Park Masonic Lodge # 617 A.F. & A.M.; Past Associate Bethel Guardian of International Order of Job’s Daughters Bethel # 7; and Past Master Kadosh of Consistory of Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. He served as Scottish Rite Almoner for many years, a member of High Twelve, and a recipient of DeMolay Legion of Honor. He was invested with the 33º Honorary Degree in October 2009.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ida Barron; six brothers; and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverly Harris Barron; daughters, Jill Bradshaw of Kansas City and Jayna Walden; grandson, Tyler Walden of Lee’s Summit; one sister, Bonnie Longstreet of Chillicothe; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit on Jan. 6 from 5-7:00 p.m., followed by a Masonic and memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Serenity Care Hospice, 1626 E. Elm, Harrisonville, MO 64701. Arrangements are under the direction of Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit.
