Helen B. (McCoy) Porter

Helen B. (McCoy) Porter, age 74, of Polo, MO, formerly of Sedalia, entered eternal life on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Valley Manor Nursing and Rehab in Excelsior Springs. Helen was born Feb. 2, 1942, in Sedalia, to Lee Garland McCoy, Sr. and Ethal Mae (Bostwick) McCoy. In 1960 Helen moved to the Kansas City area and went to work at the Francis G. garment factory, where she worked as a receptionist. On Oct. 10, 1981, she was united in marriage to Donald W. Porter in Miami, OK.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Garland Tillman McCoy, Bobbie Lee McCoy, Harry Neal McCoy, Eugene Richard McCoy, Roland Cecil McCoy, Lee Garland McCoy, Jr., and Veryl Kenneth McCoy. Also preceding Helen in death were her sisters, Alice Luella McCoy (Crater) and Aneta Mae McCoy (Loughridge).

Mrs. Porter leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband of the home; brother, Beryl Dean McCoy of Sedalia; and sister, Priscilla Alice McCoy (Yunt) of Sedalia.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 10-11 a.m. with a funeral service following at Stith Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Polo. Interment will follow at Zimmerman Cemetery, south of Polo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Salvation Army in memory of Helen B. Porter.
