Ina Mae Gorham

Ina Mae Gorham, age 87, a resident of Braymer, MO, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at Livingston Manor Care Center in Chillicothe.

Ina was born the daughter of Johnnie Marvin and Ina Alene (Hawkins) Wilds on July 23, 1933, in Carroll County, Missouri. She was a 1951 graduate of Braymer C-4 High School, and completed her education at Chillicothe Business College. Ina was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

She was united in marriage to Jewell Junior Gorham on Sept. 26, 1953, at the Church of Christ in Braymer. Ina was a business partner with her husband and Omar and Dorothy Gorham. Ina and Dorothy managed the business office while the brothers handled the sales and service. Ina and Junior were both very involved in community activity and improvements. While often Junior was the official member of the organizations, she was the hands and feet of that involvement. Ina was dedicated to family and loved attending her children and grandkids school activities. In early years, Ina enjoyed league bowling, playing cards and dances. Many weekends were spent at the racetrack and spending time with the grandkids. After her retirement from the family business, she helped manage Oak Tree Square Apartments for several years. 

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Lee Stilwell of Woodridge, IL, Carla Louise Webb (Rick) of Cowgill, and Crystal Lynn Phipps (Eugene) of Brookfield; nine grandchildren, Kristin (Bryan) Wildt of Detroit, MI, Michael (Amber) Stilwell of Colorado Springs, CO, Amy Williamson of Fort Wayne, IN, Darcy (John) Hicks of Chillicothe, Nikki Webb of Belmont, NC, AJ (Natasha) Webb of St. Joseph, Sean (Jessica) Phipps of Gladstone, Ceaira (Ryan) Palmer of Brookfield, and Taylor Phipps of Gladstone; fourteen great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edward Lee Wilds (Esther Loyd) of Independence.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jewell Junior Gorham. 

Funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ in Braymer on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe on Monday, Jan. 25, from noon until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ of Braymer and/or Evergreen Cemetery, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
