Jack LeRoy Herrington

Jack LeRoy Herrington, age 78, a resident of Breckenridge, MO, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.

Jack was born the son of Claude Abner and Hermine “Billy” (Rothacher) Herrington on Nov. 6, 1938 in Breckenridge. He was united in marriage to Joyce A. Kleeman on July 26, 1959, in Hamilton. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1997. Jack was the first manager at the Coop Station in Breckenridge. Jack worked as a supervisor of construction for Green Hills Telephone for 37 years, until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the Breckenridge United Methodist Church in Breckenridge. He was also a member of the Rose Hill Cemetery Board, and a past member of the Breckenridge School Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, going to auctions, going to the boat, spending time at his shop, and working with stained glass. He always looked forward to Bloody Mary Sundays.

Survivors include two sons, Craig L. Herrington and Ricky J. Herrington (Laura), both of Breckenridge; two daughters, Cheri L. Carpenter (Dick) of Breckenridge and Amy L. Heldenbrand (Brian) of Cameron; seven grandchildren, Ashely Thompson, Patrick Herrington, Kayla Herrington, Austin Heldenbrand, Whitley Heldenbrand, Michael Carpenter and Philip Carpenter; five great-grandchildren, Carson Thompson, Case Thompson, Brantley Thompson, Hadley Herrington, and Litton Carpenter; one brother, Stanley Herrington (Terri) of Bates City; two brothers-in-law, Keith Moorshead of Kansas City and Jack Kleeman (Marilyn) of LaGrange, GA; one sister-in-law, Judy Cox of Holt; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; two sisters, Shirley Moorshead and Teresa “Terry” Morrow; and one brother-in-law, Jim Morrow.

Funeral services will be held at the Pitts Funeral Home in Breckenridge on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 13, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home in Breckenridge on Friday, Jan. 13, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Breckenridge. Memorial contributions may be made to Rose Hill Cemetery, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P. O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
