James Joe Hicks

James Joe Hicks, age 75, of Polo, MO, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening, Jan. 29, 2018, at his home surrounded by loving family. He was born on July 29, 1942, in Longmont, CO, the son of Dean Hershell and Maryetta Faye (Price) Hicks.

Jim was a 1961 graduate of Polo High School. He was a lifelong, self-employed carpenter. Jim loved the Lord and loved life. He got a lot of enjoyment out of helping others. Jim loved his family and his friends. He never met a stranger. Jim could always find joy in almost all situations. Most of all, Jim wanted everybody to know the joy he found in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17

Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Merlin Hicks.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley Ann (Curp) Hicks; son, Danny Joe (Karen) Hicks of Polo; daughter, Renee Sue (Bob) Kuehl of Moberly; daughter, Jamie Joetta (Darrell) Moon of Kingston; son, Jason Scott (Christal) Hicks of Hamilton; brother, Walter Dean Hicks of Polo; grandchildren, Lance (Lauren) Hicks, Cody (Ashley) Hicks, Kaleb Hicks, Trevor Logan, Corie (Josh) Stevens, Makayla (Luke) Burton, Dawlson Moon, Jalyn (Thaddeus) Rinehart, Lydia Moon, Kylar Daniel Hicks; great-grandchildren, Keelan Logan, Ellah Brooke Logan, Carina and Liam Stevens, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, family and friends.
