James Morris Auffert

James Morris Auffert, age 64, of Hamilton, MO, passed away surrounded by love at his home on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016.

Jim was born on May 6, 1951, in Maryville, to Francis and Grace Messner Auffert. He graduated from the NE Nodaway High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University, before transferring to the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he completed his BS degree in pharmacy in 1974.

Jim moved to Hamilton where he owned and operated Jim’s Pharmacy for 28 years. In 2001, Jim began working at Hy-Vee Pharmacy in Chillicothe. He was tireless in caring for the health needs of others.

Jim loved being with his family, his friends and his horses. His attention to detail was evident in his work and in the facilities he built for his horses. Jim attended the Hamilton Federated Church.

He was preceded in death by his father.

On May 10, 2013, he married Laura Panos, on horseback, in Red Rock Canyon, NV. Laura survives of the home.

Additional survivors include his mother, Grace Morehouse of St. Joseph; daughter, Robyn Schoonover and her fiancé, Don Munce of Lee’s Summit; son, Ryan James Auffert of Kansas City; two grandchildren, Quincy and Claire Schoonover; brother, Eugene Auffert; and sister, Joyce (Mike) Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, at the Hamilton Federated Church. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at the Hamilton Federated Church.
