James R. Kelsey

James “Jim” Robert Kelsey, age 80, of Hamilton, MO, passed away on Oct. 22, 2016, at the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Hamilton. Jim lived in Hamilton since 1978.

Jim was born in Kirkwood on Aug. 29, 1936, to August Robert and Mary T. (Fritsch) Kelsey. He was a graduate of the Eugene Coyle High School in Kirkwood and had attended college. Jim served our country in the US Air Force in the late 1950s.

Jim worked as a police officer for the cities of Kirkwood and Manchester, and also was a truck driver for Crete Trucking. He was a member of the VFW in Crestwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Hazel, Peggy and Francie; and one brother, Gus.

He married Jackie Stout on Aug. 20, 1960, in Kirkwood. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include her children, Donna Smith of Kansas City, James (Michelle) Kelsey of Breckenridge; and John Kelsey of St. Joseph; brother, Joseph (Doreen) Kelsey of Kirkwood; sister, Barbara Laudeman of Kirkwood; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation was entrusted to Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery at Higginsville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
