Janice Kay Petty

Janice Kay Petty, age 65, a resident of Kearney, MO, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021, at St. Luke’s North in Kansas City. Janice was born the daughter of Bill and Shirley (Anderson) Petty on Aug. 22, 1956, in Braymer.

Janice was a graduate of Braymer C-4 High School. After graduation, she attended Missouri Western State University, Idaho State, and the Perkins School of Theology. In her youth, she played many sports. In college, she played softball, and volleyball, both on the varsity teams.

Janice worked as a part time coach and Hall Director at Texas College for many years. She was an Ordained Elder in the Rio Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. Janice served several local churches as a local pastor, most recently Devine United Methodist Church in Texas. For the last few years, Janice had lived in an assisted living facility in Kearney. Janice attended the Braymer Methodist Church in Braymer, and in her youth, she attended Black Oak Church in Braymer.

Survivors include one sister, Janet Petty Kohler of Villa Rica, GA; one aunt, Betty Yuille of Kearney; and one niece, Megan Mulvaney and her family in Sharpsburg, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Friday, October 1, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Black Oak Church of Braymer, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
