Jerry Lewis Rogers

Jerry Lewis Rogers, age 77, of Excelsior Springs, MO, died at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center on Jan. 11, 2018. Jerry passed quietly with his family present.

Jerry was born Jan. 23, 1940, in Hamilton, to Glenn and Lillie Rogers. He graduated from Penney High School in Hamilton in 1958. He lived in Wood Heights. He managed the Mattingly’s store in Excelsior Springs in his early career and later worked at Ag Foods until retiring. 

Jerry will be remembered for his love of music, especially the blues. He enjoyed going to concerts with family members and longtime friends. He spent countless hours playing his large collection of CDs and albums. Jerry also loved drag racing and he shared that love with his kids and grandsons, taking them to the races whenever he could. Jerry also loved teaching the art of baseball; he was a pitcher and tried out for the KC A’s. He was always young at heart. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Glenn; mother, Lillie; and grandson, Christopher McClaskey.

He is survived by his children, Lisa M. Stock, Jess L. Rogers, Christina M. (David) McClaskey and Elaina M. Rogers; his grandchildren, Cassandra Wilson, Aaron (Allison) Stock, Jess (Stephanie) McClaskey, Samantha (Dustin) Meader and Meg Rogers; great grandchildren, Jared, Aidian, Dalton, Anna, Savannah, Parker and Izabel. He is also survived by his ex-wife and mother of his four children, Ginny Guymond, and ex-wife, Carol Clock.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan 18, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. The family would like to thank Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center for the compassion and care he received for the past two years. Arrangements were under the direction of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home (816-630-3131).
