Jerry W. Zeikle
Jerry W. Zeikle, age 61, of rural Lathrop, MO, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, April 11, 2017, at Northcare Hospice House in North Kansas City, with his wife, Jolene by his side.
He was born Aug. 8, 1955, the son of Harold Eugene "Gene" and Ada Udene (Jones) Zeikle in Cameron. Jerry attended school in both the Lathrop and Polo school districts, graduating from Lathrop High School in 1973. On Feb. 10, 1979, he was united in marriage to Jolene Raker near Lawson.
Jerry worked for Hallmark Cards in Liberty for 39 years, retiring as a shipping specialist. He enjoyed working on his farm and raising cattle. Jerry was a hard worker (he would try to tackle any task that came his way) and he took pride in any work that he did. He was a very particular guy, especially when it came to making the perfect size hay bale. He would say, “I’m just an old farm boy.” Jerry loved Allis Chalmers, Mustang cars, deer hunting, and he especially loved his grandkids. He was a Ford man. Jerry will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Zeikle was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Harold Eugene Zeikle Jr.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Jolene Zeikle of the home; mother, Ada Udene Zeikle of Polo; daughter, Jenice Minnis (Alex) of Lathrop; daughter, Jenny Sumpter (Jeremy) of Lathrop; grandchildren, Marissa, Trace, Brooke, Clayton and Chase; sister, Carolyn Zeikle of Northpole AK; and an uncle, David Zeikle (Alice) of Polo.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Lathrop Antique Show Grounds on Sunday, April 23, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held at Prairie Ridge Cemetery west of Polo. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Lathrop Antique Car, Tractor and Engine Association in loving memory of Jerry W. Zeikle, and may be mailed to P.O. Box 13, Lathrop, MO 64465.
