Jewell Howard Sloan

Jewell Howard Sloan, age 94, of Cameron, passed away on Oct. 9, 2016. Jewell was born on Sept. 16, 1922, in Cameron to Christie and Helen (Stubblefield) Sloan.

Jewell was a 1939 graduate of Cameron High School; a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II, and a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the American Legion Elmer Ellis Post #33 in Cameron and Missouri Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; three brothers, Lyndon, Darrell and Loren; and sister, Hazelee Cain.

Survivors include his son, Scott (Tonya) Sloan of Cameron; daughter, Jeri Lynn (Frank) Gilleland of Fitzgerald, GA; brother, Eldon Dean (Helen) Sloan of Farmington, UT; sister, Dorothy Jean Mattox of Cameron; five grandchildren, Cody, Justin, Troy, Haley and Jenna; two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Adelyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home in Cameron. A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Cameron Memory Gardens in Cameron. Memorial donations may be made to the Cameron Ag Supporters. Online condolences may be left at www.polandthompson.com.
