JoAnn Burkey

JoAnn Burkey, age 71, a resident of Columbia, MO, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.

JoAnn was born the daughter of Curtis and Evelyn (Woods) McKnight on March 13, 1944, in Kansas City. She was a 1962 graduate of Braymer C-4 High School. After graduating high school she went on to graduate from Guard Business College in St. Joseph. She was united in marriage to Lyle Burkey on June 28, 1964, in Braymer. JoAnn worked as a secretary for Circle G Plumbing Company in Columbia, for over 25 years. She also attended the Woodcrest Methodist Church in Columbia.

Survivors include husband Lyle Burkey of the home; one son, Curt Burkey of Columbia; one brother, Bill McKnight of Dallas, TX; one sister, Susan Clevenger (Jerry) of St. Joseph; and nieces, nephews, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 10:30 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 12, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P. O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
