Joe Robison
Joe Robison, age 75 of Kearney, MO, and formerly of Polo, entered eternal life Sunday, January 8, 2017, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Joe entered this life Sept. 20, 1941, in rural Polo, son of Lawrence and Susie (Gentry) Robison. Joe was raised on the family farm west of Polo. He was a lifelong resident of the Polo area and a graduate of Polo High School. He was united in marriage to Joyce McFall in Liberty, and to this union one son, Ronnie “Red Hog” was born. Joe farmed his whole career in Caldwell County until retiring in 2000. He also served as the Polo Night Marshall in the 1970s. Joyce passed away in 2008, and in 2014 he married Helen Eddy of Kearney. Helen passed away just a few hours after Joe. Joe also served on the Polo R-7 Board of Education in the 1980s, the Caldwell County Ambulance Board and the Grant Township Board.
He loved playing sports in his early years, and later in life he enjoyed watching them. Joe was also an avid hunter and was a great shot. His CB handle was “smokin’ twenty.” He loved to play cards, especially pitch, and later in life he learned to love dancing. A few years ago, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronnie “Red Hog” Robison; brothers, Ralph, Maurice, Denzel, and Roy; and sisters, Mildred Burnett and Leona Herring.
Survivors include a daughter in-law, Mary Snodderly (Brian) of Kearney; sisters, Dorotha Kieffaber of Olathe, KS, and Arnita Kuss (Jack) of Rogers, AR; sisters in-law, Ruby Robison of Kingston and Charlene Webster of Mirabile; and brother in-law, Henry Herring of Braymer. Numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends also survive. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at 11:30 a.m., at the Polo Christian Church in Polo. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Prairie Ridge Cemetery in Polo. Memorial donations are suggested to the Christ Cupboard Food Pantry or the Polo Christian Church, and can be left at or mailed to Stith Family Funeral Home, 301 E. Elm St., Polo, MO 64671. Serving the family and arrangements are under the direction of Stith Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Polo.
