John Henry Gilgour
John Henry Gilgour, age 77, formerly of King City, MO for 45 years, passed away Feb. 5, 2016, at Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence. John Henry was born April 18, 1938, in Breckenridge, the son of Clyde and Louetta (Stout) Gilgour.
On Aug. 29, 1958, he was united in marriage to Judith Neiman in Chillicothe. She survives of the home.
John was a newspaper publisher. He had also sold crop insurance. He was a member of the Hammer Memorial United Methodist Church in King City. He had served as a board member and president of the King City School Board; former member of the King City Lions Club; and a member of the King City Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Howard Dean, James, Gene, and Danny Gilgour.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Judith; four sons, Mitchell (Kelly) Gilgour of Houston, TX and David (Lorie) Gilgour, Steven (Ginni) Gilgour, and Richard (Terri) Gilgour, all of Blue Springs; nine grandchildren, Patrick (Becky), Michael and Meghan Gilgour, all of Houston, TX, Adam Gilgour of Chicago, IL, Kaylie, Hailey and Sam Gilgour, all of Blue Springs, Chase Gilgour of Columbia, Katelyn Gilgour of Marietta, GA; two great-grandchildren, Everett and Eliza Gilgour of Houston, TX; one brother, Tim (Carolyn) Gilgour of Chillicothe; three sisters, Carolyn (Don) Mueller of Green Cove Springs, FL, Molly Holbrook of Chillicothe, and Brenda Thompson of Sturtevant, WI.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Roberson Funeral Home in King City. Burial will follow in King City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
