Joseph R. Dewey

Joseph Ronald Dewey, age 83, of Dawn, MO, passed away on Sept. 23, 2018, at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer. Joe was born on April 30, 1935, in Jefferson City, to Mr. and Mrs. Fay and Faye (Scott) Dewey. Much of his childhood was spent in Wheeling.

Joe was a veteran who served two years in the US Army from April 1958 to 1960, as part of the armored tank division “Hell on Wheels.” Afterward, he spent many years in Alaska as a homesteader, where he built several homes and worked on offshore oil rigs.

Joe was a father of three children, Daniel Embree, Sarah Lundberg, and Lori Dewey, as well as grandfather to two boys.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Francis Shirley and Linda Elliott; and brother, Larry Dewey.

Surviving siblings include June Jones, Berneta Brown, Joyce Walker, Lloyd Dewey, David Dewey, and Sandra Mallory.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 9, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. Interment will be held at the Wheeling Cemetery in Wheeling. www.bramfuneralservices.com
