Joy E. Bales

Joy E. Bales, age 85, of Lawson, MO, passed away on Dec. 17, 2015, at the Lawson Manor and Rehabilitation Center.

Joy was born on Sept. 6, 1930, in Hamilton, to Ray and Beatrice J. Hatfield Yoakum. She had been a homemaker. Joy had been a member of the Old Union Christian Church in Lawson and the Polo American Legion Auxiliary.

Joy married Donald Bales on Oct. 16, 1947, in Hamilton. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents; infant son, Timothy; seven brothers, Charles, Lynn, Donald, Mitchell, Arnold, Ronald, and Lester Yoakum; and three sisters, Reta Anderson, Veta Holman, and Wilma Thomas.

Survivors include three sons, Mark (Candace), Dennis (Joann), and Steve (Brenda) Bales, all of Lawson; special friend, Sharon Perry and her family of Holt; brother, Billy Yoakum of Portland, OR; two sisters, Marilyn June Helm of Hamilton and Felva Ann Lollar of Cameron; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriers Project.
