Laverne Stark, age 90, of Brookfield, MO, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield.
Laverne F., daughter of Noble Lawrence and Nelle Mae (Metcalf) Foster, was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Sumner. On March 24, 1946, she married Keith Stark, who preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1993. Together they had seven children. Laverne was a graduate of Manual High School in Kansas City. She was a housewife and a mother.
Laverne was a member of the United Methodist Church in Laclede. She was also a member of the Neighborhood Club. She served as a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother for many years and was a 4-H leader. Laverne worked for Pershing Memorial Hospital for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Stark (Martha) of Brookfield and Edward Stark (Terri) of Lathrop; four daughters, Shirley Wright (Rodney) of Marceline, Sheila Oyler (David) of Hardin, Rita Rodriguez (John) of Polo, and Penny Williams of St. Joseph; one daughter-in-law, Judy Stark of Brookfield; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Her parents; one son, Steve Stark; one brother, John W. (Dub) Foster; one sister, Jeane Williams; and two nephews, Gary Foster and John Foster preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor Richard Casady, Pastor Joe Smith, and Pastor Bill Montgomery officiating. A visitation will begin on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the evening at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery in Brookfield. Memorials may be made to the Laclede United Methodist Church, and may be left at or mailed to Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, P.O.
