LeeRoy Schnake

LeeRoy Schnake, age 75, a resident of Ludlow, MO, passed away at his home on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, with his family by his side.

He was born the son of LaVern and Clara (Wuellner) Schnake on May 16, 1942, in Stotts City. He was a 1960 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. He married Sharon J. (Johnson) Schnake on Oct. 14, 1959 in Mt. Vernon. She survives of the home. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Stotts City.

LeeRoy was the service manager at Barnes Baker Motors in Chillicothe for over 20 years. He was a charter member of the Chillicothe Elks 656, and also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club of Chillicothe. He was the trustee for the Monroe Township. LeeRoy loved to spend time with his family. He made a priority of attending the events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved nothing more than being their Papa. He loved to host fish fries and to tinker in his shop. He enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Johnson) Schnake of the home; two daughters, Carrie Gilliland (John) of Ludlow and Shari Wells of Chillicothe; two brothers, Leon Schnake (Rene) of Warrensburg and Harlan Schnake of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Peggy Short (Terry) of Mt. Vernon and Allene Roach of Joplin; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Childress of Independence and Denny Baker of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren, Crystal Stedem (Hugg) of Mooresville, Tyler Anderson (Kristen) of Ludlow, Clint Gilliland (Tatum) of Ludlow, Bethany Tipton (Travis) of Dawn, Jaymie Rairdan (Dave) of Gallatin, Dalton Case of Chillicothe; 12 great-grandchildren, Hagen, Hut, Hadalyn, Tuff, Krew, Rye, Kamdyn, Zoey, Thatcher, Jericho, Jaylynne, and Aurora; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVern and Clara Schnake; a brother, David Schnake; three sisters, Geneva Childress, Lois Baker, and Ruth Johnson; two brothers-in-law, Don Johnson and Eddie Roach; and one grandson, James Anderson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at the Rafter C Arena in Mooresville at 5:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., also at the Rafter C Arena in Mooresville. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe on Thursday, Aug. 24, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 25, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A private inurnment is scheduled at McCroskie Cemetery in Ludlow. To honor Papa’s great-grandson and best buddy, memorial contributions may be made to United Cerebral Palsy of St. Joseph, and may be mailed to or left at Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
